Steve Harris – Owner, Guide & L4 Instructor
As a dynamic canoe/kayak instructor and author of the books “The Line in the Sand, Cree River Expedition” and co-author “Inukshuk, the Fond du Lac Expedition.” Steve specializes in providing exceptional instruction for paddlers as they progress from beginner right through river running and tripping. Steve is a certified ACA (American Canoe Association) Instructor Trainer (IT), level 4 canoe instructor and Wilderness First Responder.
He has seventeein years of experience leading and teaching Whitewater Canoeing and Kayaking in Wisconsin along with leading expeditions in Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Twenty years of teaching Biology, Biotechnical Engineering and Biomedical Science. Steve has Bachelor Degrees in Broad Field Science, Forestry, Biology and Soil Science, along with a Masters in Education, and certification in Brain Compatible Learning Strategies. Winner of the Golden Apple’s – Teacher of the year, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Teacher of the Year in Biology and nominated for National Science Teacher of the year twice. When you combine a skilled paddler with an exceptional teacher, you gain a dynamic, charismatic instructor and guide.
Ben Harris – Guide, Safety & Swiftwater Rescue
Ben is also a certified ACA level 3 solo and tandem canoe instructor and level 3 Swiftwater Rescue Instructor. Ben has been teaching ACA canoeing and kayaking classes, Safety Clinics, and co-leading expeditions the past three summers. Growing up around the water, paddling Boundary Waters, Ottawa River in Quebec, Missinaibi River in Ontario and most of the rivers in Wisconsin in both canoes and kayaks, Ben has developed a teaching style that allowed him to become one of the top instructors and guide. Clients gravitate to his skill sets, personality, patience and leadership qualities on and off the water.
As a guide and instructor, Ben’s primary function is to coordinate and facilitate skill development and group safety. While developing group dynamics, Ben looks after each participant’s individual needs to successfully achieve his or her personal goals.
Drew Harris – Guide & Logistics
Like his older brother, Drew grew up with a paddle in his hands. From his experiences, he has developed a real passion for moving water. Spending the past several summers on the Fond du Lac River in Northern Saskatchewan and the Missinaibi River in Ontario, Drew’s spirit lies in the far north.
